EToolsforCriminalwebOn 13 March 2012 during the annual training for judges of district courts and the Court of Appeal in Poznan in Ciechocinek, a training meeting and discussion on “New IT technologies as support for the criminal trial” was held. The purpose of the meeting was the presentation of the report “E-tools for criminal case management within selected EU Member States”. The meeting was conducted by professor Paweł Wiliński from Adam Mickiewicz University and the President of the Court of Appeal in Poznań.

The judges were acquainted to the latest developments in the use of electronic communications in criminal cases serving to efficient management and operation of these cases in courts.

The event was attended by judges of District Court in Konin, the District Court in Zielona Gora and the Appellate Court in Poznań. The presentation was followed by a discussion on the prospects and directions of development of information technologies and the scope of their use in criminal court. The participants agreed on the need of further detailed research in this area and analyzes of the use of resources applied to permanently or piloted in civil proceedings.

The event was organised in the framework of the Project “Tracking Progress in Strengthening the Criminal Justice Indicators for Integrated Case Management (e-Tools)” implemented by the Center for the Study of Democracy, Droit au Droit, Adam Mickiewicz University (PL), with the assistance of the European Public Law Organisation (EPLO), and supported by the Criminal Justice Programme of the European Union.
